In the 13th century, seperate wooden fortifications were built around the Cathedral quarter and around the civil town. In the 15th century, these fortifications were expanded and erected in stone. Remnants of the walls, bastions and the moat remain, i.e. the "Landskrone", a corner bastion on the south east corner of the old fortification from 1463.
